Meetings with Coalitions and Cultural Professionnal Organizations
2007, September 17 to 19:
Representatives from 37 of the 42 Coalitions for Cultural Diversity met
in Seville, Spain to officially launch the International Federation of
Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD). For more infos : www.ifccd.com

2005, May 9 to 11:
More than 170 representatives of cultural professional organizations
from 60 countries met for a fourth time in Madrid on the eve of the
adoption of the UNESCO Convention for the protection and the promotion
of cultural expressions.

2004, June 1 to 4:
400 delegates representing cultural professional organization from 57
countries reiterated the importance of not taking any liberalization
commitments on culture during trade negociations which could
compromised their capacity to adopt cultural policies. The participants
also call for the mobilisation of all cultural professionals in favour
of the adoption of a Convention on the diversity of cultural
expressions at UNESCO.

2003, February 2 to 4:
125 representatives of
cultural professional organizations from 30 countries met in Paris in
the context of the rapid multiplication of trade negociations both at
the bilateral and multilateral level. They call on States to refrain
from taking any commitments on culture during those negociations and to
work toward the creation of an international instrument on cultural
diversity that would recognize the sovereign right of States to adopt
cultural policies.

2001, September 11 to 13:
The Canadian Coalition for Cultural Diversity hosted the first meeting
of professional cultural organizations where 41 delegates from 11
countries came to discuss the issues around the trade and culture
debate.
